This new build hotel includes the provision of 43 bedrooms with associated corridors, stairs, lifts, linen rooms, refuse areas and reception plus external parking provision and access for service vehicles to the rear.
The building is constructed on piled foundations with in-site concrete floor slabs and a full timber frame. The fabric of the building is clad with natural stone and slate roof tiles, with cut stone window sills, heads and mullions.
At the time of construction, this was the most expensive Travelodge per unit of internal floor area in the country due to its high specification and the strict planning conditions imposed by the local authority, meaning that the hotel had to blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of the Lake District and utilise many of the materials associated with this region.
